Is there a minimum project size for full-service design?

Yes. Our full-service design services are best suited for full-scale renovations or new construction with character, with a planned material spend of $500,000 or more across all design categories, from cabinetry, stone, and tile to fixtures, finishes, and furnishings. Working on something smaller? You're still in the right place. Visit The Workshoppe in Winnetka, where you can work alongside our designers in store and shoppe the same materials we use in our full-service projects. It's the Kaage Homes approach, scaled to your project.

How involved do I need to be throughout the process?

We tailor the level of involvement to each client. Some prefer to be hands-on with selections, while others rely on us to lead decisions. Our role is to guide the process so you feel confident, not overwhelmed.

How much do your design services cost?

We offer two ways to work with us: Virtual Interior Design is offered at a fixed rate, ideal for concept-only projects that don't require us on site. Full-Service Interior Design has two parts: a design fee that covers the creative work (concept development, space planning, materials, custom cabinetry, lighting, furniture curation, and collaboration with your architect and builder), and a procurement fee that covers the behind-the-scenes work to bring it to life (sourcing, ordering, tracking, freight, and quality control). The perk: Full-service clients who meet our minimum spend gain access to trade-only materials and pricing on every item we source, which often offsets a meaningful portion of the procurement fee. Design services typically represent about 10% of the overall project investment. Once we learn more about your project, we'll send a tailored estimate.

Do you work with our builder or bring your own team?

We are selective about the builders we work with to ensure our designs are executed at the level of quality they’re intended. In most cases, we collaborate with trusted partners who are deeply familiar with our process, drawings, and standards. This allows us to maintain consistency and deliver the level of finish our work is known for.

We take a leading role in guiding the entire project from start to finish—acting as a central point of coordination across design, construction, and key decisions along the way. Our team develops detailed plans, elevations, and curated selections that bring complete clarity to the process—eliminating guesswork and ensuring the design is executed exactly as intended.
